Today is the beginning of a grueling writing marathon in which I shall write 50,000 or more words to complete a novel in one month, this month. ?Do I have any idea what I’m getting myself into? ?Only?slightly. ?Do I have any idea what I’ll be writing about? ?Mostly. ?Will I be able to do it? ?We shall read.
About a month ago I signed up for NaNoWriMo, and now it’s time to make good on that?commitment. ?I have one writing buddy at this time, but feel free to add me if you’re also in it to finish it. (My NaNo ID is Veronica Monique, yeah, I keep it real.)
I’m motivated. ?I’m ready. ?I will need to be reminded of this in the coming days.
I’ve roughed out a schedule and some notes. ?My goal is to wake up at 6 a.m. and write until 7 a.m. solidly, and then whenever I can. ?I have a family to write around, and other projects going on. ?My notes are hopefully?sufficient enough to feed the muse so she can in turn kick my butt and keep my fingers flying over the keyboard. ?Again we shall read.
The goal is to write, write without self editing. ?The idea is to get the story out. ?Editing will come later. ?This will be my greatest challenge as I am an automatic self editor. ?I’m not perfect, but when my fingers fumble I can’t let it go until the end. ?I must go back to fix it. ?I’ve been practicing with my?Five Minute Friday posts to just let it go. ?Now all that’s left is to write. ?And so I will.
Wish me luck, cheer me on, and check me out. ?Are you writing?
Here’s to starting strong and finishing stronger! I keep seeing your awesome word count tweets, and I’m so totally proud of you. We can do this the NaNoWriMo together.!
Thank you! We totally can! (But we will need more coffee, chocolate, and some write-a-thon get togethers too.)
